Here's to all of the great dads out there! Our lives are forever better because of you!

Growing up with Ken Ryan as your dad meant that your life was full of adventure, high expectations, hard work, life lessons, with instructions in patriotism and citizenship. We watched boxing and old movies and listened to "The Shadow" on the radio. Many nights were spent watching the Boston Pops on TV with lots of popcorn to go around.

This picture of me approaching 2-years-old, listening to records with my dad, is always what I picture when I think of him.  I'm sure he was narrating the adventures that inspired the symphony on our record player with the creative energy that brimmed over in my dad. His world was forever BIG and he was intent on drawing others into it.

It was my great fortune to be the eldest of five children. This would be the last of my time with him as an only child with his full focus. My brother, Shaun, was almost here!

Here's a picture of us doing the show on Father's Day in 2019. He did college radio at Gonzaga and although he tried to resist, we talked him into coming up for the show.  Men in our culture were under attack that year and it seemed so important to celebrate men and dads on their special weekend. We had a great time telling family stories about funny times and important lessons that happen because of dads.  They are worth celebrating every day.

Little did we know that he would be gone the next year.  How incredibly lucky to have captured these wonderful moments shared for years only at family events in a recording that can now be shared with the Ryan clan for years to come.

Ken Ryan in his element.  Presenting the keynote for the annual NASBP conference at the Coranado Hotel. The National Association of Surety Bond Producers (NASBP), founded in 1942, is the Association of and resource for surety bond producers and allied professionals.  He was determined to change the culture of stuffy insurance executive. He chose "Eye of the Tiger" as his theme since Rocky 3 had just been released.  Never one for half measures, he had a tiger brought in from the San Diego zoo. Grown men were jumping up on the tables as it came in on a long chain!

Ken was a lifelong Catholic and loved his time in the Knights of Columbus.
