- Chevron's CEO was on Bloomberg a few days ago (YouTube clip: https://lnkd.in/gWcYjzCe) discussing the sharp drawdown of crude oil inventories in the US and globally. One key takeaway is they are projecting that the US will continue to see very sharp drawdowns of crude oil inventories over the coming weeks because any reopening of Hormuz is likely to be much slower than the highly optimistic forecasts (e.g., sustained 120-140 ships a day within 30 days). Below I've charted the US's crude oil inventories (including the Strategic Petroleum Reserve) based on the most recent release (capturing data as of May 22) and then projected forward inventories for 5 weeks (through late June) based on the 5-week trend in weekly inventory changes.
